Weekend teaching summary: June 4-5, 2011

Ephesians 5: 15-17
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Pastor Dan brought application of this passage through the following points:

1) Learn from past experiences so you can evaluate how to respond to present circumstances - remember unwise things you did and avoid repeating them!

2) Recognize today as a "present" from God, and make the most of every opportunity.  Tomorrow is only a better day if we make wise choices today.

3) Seek to understand the Lord's will, and remember that our perspectives are limited - we can't step back and watch our own lives.  God has an eternal perspective on our lives, so seeking and obeying Him are in our best interest.  God's will is not rigid, but it's more like staying within a bubble inside of a circle - if we make choices that are within the boundary of the bubble, we are still walking in His will.

4) Don't be foolish with your time.  Work hard at something God has called you to, and do it for Him.  You won't be disappointed!
